About the Reunion
Austin and Frances Hurt-Scott, our earliest know ancestors, were born on the Hurt Plantation in Sparta, Georgia. They were children when their enslaver, William Hurt, moved to Russell County, Alabama. All of Austin and Frances' children were born and died in Russell County, and all of us descended from them. Therefore, Russell County is our true ancestral home in this country. Many Scott descendants have remained in the Alabama/Georgia area for generations. Others moved north and west seeking better opportunities.
The primary purpose of this gathering is to unite the descendants in one place to celebrate our heritage and each other.
